Who operates this website

Microphone permission and audio processing

The website requests microphone permission only after you select the button to start a test. Your browser supplies the microphone stream to the website’s code, which measures the signal locally in your browser.

The website does not intentionally transmit raw microphone audio to its server or store microphone audio remotely. Microphone audio is not used for speech recognition, voice identification, advertising profiles, or AI training.

Temporary local recordings

If you choose to record a short sample, the browser creates a temporary in-memory Blob and Object URL for playback. The recording is not intentionally uploaded to the website. It is removed when you delete or replace it and is no longer available when the relevant page or browser session state ends.

Technical hosting and security data

Infrastructure providers such as Cloudflare may process ordinary technical information needed to deliver and protect the website. Depending on provider behavior, this may include an IP address, requested URL, timestamp, browser or user-agent information, security signals, and other network or request metadata.

This does not mean the operator manually reviews or builds profiles from every request. Provider retention and security practices are governed by the provider’s configuration and policies; this policy does not claim a fixed infrastructure-log retention period.

Local storage

The website uses one local-storage key, mic-test-theme, to remember a light or dark theme choice. This preference remains in your browser until you change it or clear site data. Local storage is separate from cookies.

Contact communications

If you contact the website by email, the message may include your email address, a name you provide, message content, and any attachments you voluntarily include. This information may be used to respond, handle a privacy request, troubleshoot a problem, maintain relevant correspondence, or resolve a dispute.

Email and routing providers involved in delivering the message may process message and technical data as needed to provide their services. Correspondence may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to respond, maintain relevant records, resolve disputes, or meet applicable obligations.

Advertising

Advertising is disabled. The current website does not intentionally load Google AdSense or request an advertisement. Before advertising is enabled, this policy and the Cookie and Local Storage Policy must be updated to describe the actual advertising services, identifiers, consent choices, and disclosures in use.

Analytics

Cloudflare Web Analytics is enabled through Cloudflare Pages to understand aggregate traffic and website performance. On deployed pages, Cloudflare automatically adds a small performance beacon served by static.cloudflareinsights.com; with the automatic Pages setup, the beacon reports through the website’s /cdn-cgi/rum endpoint.

The resulting reports may include page views, web-performance measurements, page path, referrer, approximate country, device type, browser, and operating system. Cloudflare states that Web Analytics does not use cookies or local storage to collect usage metrics and does not fingerprint visitors for this product. Web Analytics is separate from the microphone test. The analytics beacon is not given access to the microphone stream and does not receive microphone audio, recordings, input levels, device labels, or microphone settings.

Cookies and similar technologies

The website’s own core microphone-testing code does not set advertising or analytics cookies. Cloudflare states that its Web Analytics product does not use cookies or local storage to collect usage metrics. Theme preference uses local storage as described above. Hosting infrastructure may use technically necessary mechanisms to deliver or protect the website. Future advertising technologies would apply only after advertising is enabled and the relevant policies and consent controls are updated.

Third-party service providers

Cloudflare provides website hosting, content delivery, security, and Web Analytics. Cloudflare processes technical and analytics data under its own service terms and privacy practices. Email routing and email providers process messages only when someone chooses to contact the website. Google advertising services are not active in the current release.

Data retention

The application does not retain microphone audio on a server. Temporary recordings exist only in browser memory as described above. The theme preference remains until cleared. Web Analytics and technical infrastructure data are retained according to Cloudflare’s current practices and configuration; email correspondence may be retained according to operational or legal needs.

Security

The website uses HTTPS in production, restrictive browser security headers, same-origin microphone permissions, and no application database. No security measure can guarantee absolute protection, but the service limits data handling by keeping microphone processing in the browser and avoiding accounts and audio uploads.

Privacy rights

Depending on the law that applies to you and to the processing involved, you may have rights concerning personal information, which may include rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or objection. These rights are not absolute and may depend on applicable law. Requests can be sent to [email protected].

Children’s privacy

Microphone Test is a general technical utility and is not specifically directed at children. The website does not ask visitors to provide their age and does not use age profiling. A child should involve a parent or guardian when that is appropriate for their circumstances.

International visitors

The website can be reached from different countries. Privacy rights and obligations may vary depending on location, applicable law, and the processing involved. This policy does not claim universal compliance with every privacy law.

Changes to this policy

Changes will be published on this page with a revised effective date when appropriate.
